A Message from the Student Council President

Students

In very recent times, the spirit has changed for the Collins College students. We are in a beautiful new building and we continue to have a vast array of dedicated administration, faculty, and students working on new creative ways to improve the experience of Collins College.

One of the popular new trends on campus is the initiation and formation of student clubs. These clubs have been inspired and established by the Collins College Student Council. Clubs have been shown to be successful because they inspire teamwork, competitiveness and leadership.

For example: Imagine that we have a new student at the college. We will call this fictitious student Joe the Game Designer.

Joe has a couple hobbies; however none of these hobbies really contribute to his professional development. Joe knows that if he doesn't start building his value by gaining knowledge and experience, he might not have a chance in the competitive market of game design.

So what does Joe do? Joe decides to join a club where he can build the skills necessary to excel in his field. Joe meets several likeminded people in his club that inspire him. Before long, Joe begins to rapidly increase his talents and he begins to build a solid network.

Since the Student Council has established the first few clubs, dozens of dedicated Collins students have chosen to follow the same path as Joe. As we are all aware, we are in a time of economic despair. Jobs are limited and enrolling in a college becomes a deeper, much more serious commitment. These clubs have begun to revolutionize our school. We are beginning to see the long yearned for reality of community and cooperation develop among our wonderful students and beloved faculty.

Students

If you are concerned that all clubs are strictly academic natured, do not fret. The Collins College Student Government completely supports hobby driven clubs. Non-academic hobbies are vital to maintain sanity in my experience and we will soon see a variety of clubs of these sorts pop up around the campus as well. So get out there and get involved, have some fun and build your social network. Below are some of the clubs that have been established thus far.

  • Level Design Club
  • 3D Modeling Club ("3D Modelaholics Anonymous)
  • Trading Card Game Club
  • 3D Model Texturing ("Texturization Nation")
  • East Asian Culture Club ("East Asian Connection")
  • Collins College Newspaper ("The Spec")
  • Phoenix Game Club ("Collins Gamers United" North Phoenix Campus)
  • Scripting Club ("Script Fu")
  • First Fridays (Downtown Phoenix Art Walk booths)
  • Visionary Comics Club (Creates comic book material by hand)
  • Chess Club ("All King's Men")
  • Alpha Leadership Group (Coming Soon)
  • News Team (Coming soon)
