Collins College Named 2005 School of the Year by the Arizona Private School Association

Tempe, Arizona (May 27, 2005) – The Arizona Private School Association (APSA) awarded Collins College four “Best Practice Awards,” including School of the Year, at its annual conference. Collins College also received awards for Best Teacher, Best Community Service Practice and Best Retention/Completion Program. Collins won four out of eleven awards presented.

The Arizona Private School Association is the oldest and largest association of private post-secondary schools in Arizona, with over 50 member schools.

“I would like to give recognition to the many dedicated individuals at the college who have worked hard over the year to create these excellent practices. As we go forward we will be holding seminars for APSA membership schools in the Best Practices categories for which we have received awards,” stated Rusty Walker Ph.D., Vice President and Provost of Collins College.

Peter Walsh received the prestigious Best Teacher Award. Walsh, who has been an instructor at Collins for three years, teaches a variety of general education courses. Walsh was recognized for his effectiveness in the classroom and for the different teaching methods he implements.

“Peter is an excellent instructor. He is able to present material in an interesting, clear manner that engages students. He is an inspiration to his students as well as to many of his colleagues here at Collins College,” said Walker.
