Collins College Announces Duncan Harvey as New Department Chair for the School of Film, Video and Visual FX.

Tempe, Arizona (November 19, 2007) – Today, Collins College, a school of design and technology, announced the promotion of Duncan Harvey to department chair of the School of Film, Video and Visual FX. Harvey joined Collins in 2004 as an instructor.

"We selected Harvey as department chair based on his film and television experience and his strong leadership skills" said Joshua Padron, president of Collins College. "Harvey also has the ability to manage our new professional-grade film facility, 14th Street Studio,
which opened in October. 14th Street Studio is one of the most advanced educational facilities in Arizona for film studies. The studio is designed to provide students with hands-on, professional training in film and video production. Our goal is to not only help build Arizona’s film industry but to become a leading film school."

Harvey has taught a variety of courses, including cinema, media graphics, Photoshop, basic photography, non-linear-editing platforms, and television production as part of two degree programs, a bachelor of arts degree in film & video production and an associate of Arts degree in digital video production offered by The School of Film, Video and Visual FX.

Before joining Collins College, Harvey’s professional experience included satellite programming, cable television with what is now Cox Cable Co, and educational television for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools in California. Harvey also worked as a broadcasting and media facilities manager at Central Wyoming College.

Harvey is active in a number of professional organizations, including serving as a board member and past vice president of the Arizona Film and Media Coalition, past president and vice president of the Media Communications Association International’s Phoenix Chapter, and a longtime member of the Arizona Cable Telecommunications Association. He is also a founding member and two-term CFO for the Alliance for Distance Education in California, as well as a four-term board member of the International Media 100 Users Group.
