Tempe, Arizona (September 28, 2007) - Collins College, a school of design and technology, promotes Howard Gelman to department chair of Graphic Design and graphic design, and Rulon Parker to department chair of general education. "Gelman and Parker are well respected among their colleagues," said Dr. Rusty Walker, vice president and provost of Collins College. "As department chairs they will be responsible for the daily operation of their programs as well as long-term oversight, curriculum planning and development. Their expertise will benefit Collins College and our students." Gelman has been a graphic design instructor at Collins since 2000. Professional experience includes working as an art director for J.W.T. Specialized Communications, a division of J. Walter Thompson, as advertising manager for Olde Discount Brokerage and as vice president and creative director for Bradley, Gelman & Associates Advertising. Gelman is the recipient of International Association of Business Communicators national and regional awards and the Creative Advertising Club of Detroit Awards. Parker has worked at Collins since 2003 advancing from instructor to lead instructor. He has more than 29 years of classroom experience. Before joining Collins, he was an adjunct and resident faculty member at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and Mesa Community College.
