What:
Collins College, a school of design and technology, is hosting Karim Rashid at Harkins Valley Theater. Rashid is known for his product, fashion, furniture, lighting and interior design, as well as for his fine art. His work can be found in permanent collections museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Rashid is a perpetual innovator who has designed everything from furniture to fragrance bottles and fine crystal to plastic trash cans. Designing for an impressive array of clients from Alessi to Georg Jensen, Umbra to Prada, Miyake to Method, Rashid is radically changing the aesthetics of product design and the very nature of the consumer culture. To date, he has had over 2,000 objects put into production. Rashid has won numerous industry awards and is a frequent guest lecturer at universities and conferences globally. Rashid will discuss how he finds his inspiration to create his designs and maintain his creative edge. A Q-&-A session is also planned. Tickets are available for purchase at both campuses.
