What: Collins College, a school of design and technology, is hosting Michael Shumate, a graphic designer, illustrator, author, and professor at St. Lawrence College in Ontario, Canada. Shumate's work has been used worldwide for such clients as British Airways Magazine, Kelley Services, McGraw-Hill publishers, and Business Week. Shumate's experience extends to all areas of graphic design, including advertising, corporate identity, institutional design, web design, display, and interpretive. Shumate's dynamic presentation is geared for anyone considering entering a creative profession, including music, filmmaking, acting, dancing, writing, or visual arts. The principles covered will apply equally to all creative careers. He will discuss how to deal with criticism, what three factors most contribute to success in the arts, and dispel myths about creativity. A Q-&-A session is planned.
