Robert Conway

Writer and producer of Redemption

Robert ConwayWhile Robert Conway’s peers were sending out resumes to launch their film careers, Conway wrote, directed and produced his own movie at the age of 26. What’s more, he made his movie entirely in Arizona on a shoe-string budget.

For the past year, Conway has been directing Redemption, a serious, thought-provoking Western about lawlessness, and one man’s journey to find his own redemption before his final judgment day.

Conway, a recent media arts graduate of Collins College, motivated former instructors, film and animation students, local and Hollywood actors to work on his film for ultra-low budget SAG wages.

To kick-start production, Casmor Production executives Anthony Casanova and Dennis Moore made the initial investment. Since then, Conway has raised additional funds and has received sizable contributions for the movie, including talent, equipment, wardrobe and props.  Western reenactment groups from around the state lent Conway the majority of the film’s wardrobe, props and weapons, including a number of antique guns.

Collins College lent its camera equipment and studio time, and Collins’ film and animation students worked on the production. Robert’s former visual art instructor, Mike Bostick, has been instrumental in creating the film’s visual FX, movie and promotional graphics.

“To work with a former student and be a part of such an ambitious, quality project has been very rewarding,” said Bostick, media arts instructor for Collins College.

The entire movie was shot in Arizona. Locations include Cow Town, an old, cowboy town located outside of Phoenix; Tumacocori Mission, Tucson; Gold Field Ghost Town, Apache Junction; and Vulture Mine Ghost Town.

Filming is complete and is in the final sound editing stages. A music score is also in the works. Conway plans to market the feature-length film to a few different venues including motion picture studios, television and the DVD market.
